Bibliographies and Referencing

Referencing is a standardised method of acknowledging sources of information and ideas that you have used in assignments. Direct quotations, facts and figures, as well as ideas and theories, from both published and unpublished sources must be referenced. Always note down full bibliographic details including page number/s of the information sources you use.

Don’t forget to include any websites used.

At Mt St Bernard College, the APA style is the preferred method.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work as if you created and wrote it yourself. This work could be written text, images, artwork, computer code or mathematical formulas. If you do not provide references to the source of the ideas or data you have used, then you are presenting someone else’s work as if it is your own and you have plagiarized. At university, plagiarism is regarded as a type of cheating.

  • We acknowledge the First Nations peoples of Australia, the traditional custodians of the land, seas, skies and waterways on which we reside, work, travel and meet. We pay our respect to First Nations elders past, present, and emerging, and support the Uluru Statement From The Heart. We acknowledge that the land, seas, skies and waterways of Australia were, are and always will be, that of the First Nations peoples.
